hUGO THE HARE'S RAINY DAY

It's been a while since i've shown you how the artwork for HUGO THE HARE'S RAINY DAY is going. Everything is blocked in now and I've worked up the texture on the three character's hairy bodies. The next and last stage is tweaking, looking at every element to see how it could be improved: does it need more or should it be left alone. This is the third book in the series, it will be published next spring. The second book in the series BILLY THE GOATS BIG BREAKFAST is coming out in September. MORE INFO HERE:

A Salute to My Influences

In 1983, like Archimedes before me, I had a eureka moment whilst taking a bath. I hadn’t discovered a new scientific principle, I had simply come up with a rhyming couplet. I ran dripping from the bath and scribbled the words down on a scrap of paper.

‘To keep warm in the arctic air a polar bear wears polar wear. ‘

I was right to think my inspiration was worth scrambling out of the bath for because these became the first words in my first ever picture book...
